Fitzgerald’s debut novel at the age of 22, Tender Is the Night brought overnight attention to his talent. The book probes the lives and morality of American youth in the aftermath of World War I. While certainly not Fitzgerald’s greatest novel, it cemented his stature as being part of the new generation of young writers as America launched headlong into the decadence of the early 1920s. Tender is the Night captures the effect of war on youth and the aimlessness which came to characterize a generation of writers and artists later known as the “lost generation.”

This undated (we estimate 1990) facsimile of the 1920 edition is an imprint of the First Edition Library (FEL), which independently published high quality facsimiles of many classic American novels. These editions are now extremely rare. This pristine edition comes in a custom hard-shell case provided by the publisher.
